Clerical Floater

HOURS: Normal hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a one hour lunch break.  Additional hours may be required to meet the seasonal nature of our business and to meet certain requirements of the Company

REPORTS TO: Manager, Accounting

This is an hourly position.  The minimum compensation is $11.51 per hour.

SUMMARY: Responsible for various duties for the following departments: Finance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. A/R Processing:
     a)  Open and sort incoming mail/checks.
     b)  Assist with verification tape with Net Deposit internal lockbox.
2. A/P Processing:
     a)  Print A/P checks
     b)  Compare A/P supporting documents, mail A/P checks and remittances.
     c)  Match warehouse documents to proforma listing.
     d)  Scan documents as needed into Liberty system.
3.  Monitor and maintain vendor accounts receivable within specified aging requirements.
4.  Process corporate A/R claims using the Lotus Notes system.  Follow up, research, and resolve 
     discrepancies as needed.
5.  Process invoice copy requests from vendors and A/R associates as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or general education degree (GED).  Accounting experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discount, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  1. Operate specific computer software: SUS, Liberty, AS400, Outlook.

  2. Familiarity with accounting terminology.

  3. Work accurately at a rapid pace.

  4. Work in a confidential manner.

  5. Communication (grammar/proofreading), planning/organizational, decision making, follow-up, integrity and quality orientation skills.

  6. Proficient in 10 key data entry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.  While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.  The associate frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.  The associate is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.  The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
