Selector (Outbound)

Hours:
       
Normal work hours for this position are Sunday through Thursday, beginning at 5:45 until shift is 
        completed or Monday through Thursday beginning at 5:45 until completion of shift and Friday
        beginning at 4:15.  Additional hours may be required to meet the seasonal nature of our business
        and to meet certain requirements of the Company.

Wage:
       
The minimum compensation is $15.31 per hour until Activity Based Compensation is effective.

Summary:
        Select merchandise from stock to be distributed to customer.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform pre-inspection on equipment
  • Actively participate in the warm up exercise routine.
  • Read customer order from SYSCO Operating System (SOS).
  • Scan and select product by slot and description.
  • Sticker product with identifying labels.
  • Assemble customer orders and place product on carts or pallets in proper sequence.
  • Operate warehouse equipment to proceed to correct slot location, and to transport product to dock area for staging.
  • Report product needing replenishing.
  • Maintain a rate of 100% SYSCO Warehouse Management Systems (SWMS) with accuracy to minimize errors.
  • Assist loads when requested.
  • Must be able to work in all warehouse areas (dry, cooler, freezer, and dock) in temperatures ranging from below 0ºF to 80ºF.
  • Report to supervisor for additional assignments.
  • Handle product to minimize damage.  Report damage of product or equipment.
  • Assist in clean-up of the facility.
  • Follow SYSCOSafe work methods.
  • Adhere to Company standards, procedures, and policies.

  • Minimum age 18.
  • Prefer experience with fast pace work, physical labor and/or night shift.
  • A stable work history and no unexplained gaps in employment.

Education and or Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and brief correspondence.  Ability to write basic correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Industrial equipment operation certification.

Competencies:

  • Work accurately at a rapid pace.
  • Good attendance required.
  • Operate specific computer equipment: SWMS, SLS, SOS, and Tri-coder equipment.
  • Operate warehouse equipment.

Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The associate is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms and smell.  The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  The associate is regularly exposed to varying climate conditions, extreme cold or heat and fast-paced material handling equipment; occasionally works in high, precarious places; and potentially  exposed to chemicals, fumes, airborne particles and dust.  The noise level is moderate.
